Mercy
I’ve often heard it said that grace is receiving what we don’t deserve, and mercy is not receiving what we do. Because of sin’s devastating impact on all of humanity, we, in our broken state, deserve death and separation from God and all His goodness. Yet, in His great mercy, God chose to make a way. He chose to spare us from the grave, not because we earned it or begged for it, but because of His own loving will. Jesus came to make a way, died in our place, and rose again so that we might have eternal life with Him. This poem is an attempt to capture the unfathomable depth of God’s mercy—an act of love so profound it surpasses full understanding.
